About Me

My photo
Roughly 1/3 of a century old. I am a father of two, and a very lucky husband to my beautiful wife Jennifer. We are all very active, and love the outdoors. We camp, hike, and geocache as a family. we have 16 or so pets, ranging from a black widow to toads to snakes canines and everything in-between. We are active Catholics and attend mass regularly at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Amarillo Texas. My wife is very active in the Parish, and volunteers with our friends "The Sisters of Prayer Town" the Nuns of the order "Disciples of The Lord Jesus Christ". Jennifer has had Leukemia for about 6 years now, and has been kicking it's A$$. Now the time has come for a bone marrow transplant. Pray for us, and God Bless.

These are my creations; Plush Geocaching Trackables (hand sewn)

I bought Aubry a candy cane Geocoin for christmas, I also bought matthew a shark "Cachekinz" (TM) trackable shark tag.

Naturally, Aubry wants to add her Geocoin to her collection of pathtags, and other special coins, and finds. However, she still wants to use the tracking feature of her coin. Her coin is an "Oakcoins" brand polished silver and enamel finish Geocoin. It comes with it's own custom icon (a candy cane) that is displayed on Geocaching.com when the item is logged, or viewed. So as to take the best of both worlds, allowing Aubry to keep her shiny new coin, and still let it travel the globe, I hand sewed a plush candy cane toy and attached a custom made "Quick Tag" pet ID tag engraved at wal-mart.

"A Blue Christmas"

It took me about 4 1/2 hours to make the candy cane. the above photo shows both sides of the same plush. I got started on a whim, at about 11:30 PM and did not finish and get to bed till almost 5:00 AM!

After much vain admiration of my own work, I decided that I now needed to make Matthew a special plush for his shark Cachekinz Travel Bug:

My fingers are worn out, as is my patience for today, but I'll definitely try again soon.

I'll try to release them in Kansas this week while on a business trip. If not able, then I assume we will all try to go Caching this next weekend (New Years!!)

The only spice i used on this bird was salt and pepper. Cooked for 45 minutes each side then glazed it with an orange duck sauce, and cranked the heat up to 475 degrees for about 7 minutes to crisp the skin. Although I did like the recipe, it is was much better done with duck. Either that, or I just have an un-satiated desire for waterfowl.

At least I had the duck flavored wine to go with it!

Pardon the mess, I'm just learning the site.

Excuse any temporary confusion while I get settled in here. I've not used this site before, and in fact have not been logging for anywhere for a while outside of the occasional upload on YouTube. Please feel free to offer helpful hints as I slowly work towards organization.

Christmas Caroling with "The Sisters"

So, Last night we went out caroling for the first time as a family. We were recruited by Sister Rita to play the part of the nativity (Mary & Joseph). We had a great time. Afterward we went to Mr. Gattis for pizza, curtsey of Dr. Megan Walsh.

We had many photos taken, and will post them in the future.

It was quite moving at points. We went to a house where a family of congo/swahili refugees live. They are Catholic, but speak little to no english. The sisters (Sr. felicity, Sr. Rita and Sr. Marie) all sang in Swahili. Each house, Jennifer and I would kneel down in our costume at the front door, with baby Jesus and all the "choir" would gather around us. We had our daugher Aubry ring the doorbell and then immediately the OTHER Jennifer would begin playing the trumpet. It was beautiful!

Well, off to Mass now. Thanks for the read,

Happy Advent & Merry Christmas
